General Information for Referees...
AYSO La Costa Referees needs volunteers! Women and Youth (ages 12 and up) are especially encouraged to volunteer. When women and youth officiate at the Saturday games, it shows the players that all people can participate and enjoy the game of soccer. Sign up for the next Regional Referee course. No soccer knowledge is required. The course is free and you'll impress all your friends with that bright yellow referee shirt, flags, and other referee equipment that you'll also get for no cost. For additional information contact Chris Hoolihan at lcaysorrahooli@aol.com.
In order to be an adult referee for AYSO and earn points, you need to do the following:
1. Register as an AYSO volunteer - see below
2. Complete Safe Haven Training - see below; this training is available online and takes about 35 minutes to complete.
3. Attend Regional Referee Training and pass the test - click on the Training link at left for dates. Be sure to look at the Regional training, not the Refresher training. Regional training is two evenings, both must be attended.
4. Get your gear - All new referees receive a complete kit including jersey, shorts, socks, bag, whistle, flags and cards. You will need to provide a watch, shoes, and a pen. We will email you with instructions on when and where to pick up your gear.
5. Sign up for an appropriate match - instructions on how to do this will be provided at training.
6. Have fun out there!

How to register as an AYSO volunteer:
1. Go to www.eayso.org
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to register as an AYSO volunteer. Most likely, you will need to select “First Time Login” on the first screen, and create an eASYO account.
3. Enter your first and last name (Please use the SAME NAME you used for Safe Haven/Coach Training, etc) and your home phone, then click "NEXT".
4. You don't need to create a userid to register - click the "I'll do this later" button.
5. Click on "Find a region"
6. Put 92009 in the box where it says zipcode and click on search.
7. Three regions (127, 1282, 1505) should be listed. Click the circle to the left of 1282 and then click on 'NEXT'
8. The process from this point consists of filling in each page of the form (A red asterisk means the field is required) and clicking "NEXT" for the next page of the form, a total of about 7 screens.
9. When complete - print one copy of the form, sign it, and give it to Chris Hoolihan. Please include a photocopy of your driver's license so they can confirm your driver's license info on the form. After that is done and another board member does some processing, you will receive an AYSO ID number by email. You can then use that AYSO ID number to complete the Safe Haven training.
The eAYSO Help Desk can be reached at 866-588-2976 if you need assistance.
Online Safe Haven Training:
Adult referees are required to complete AYSO Safe Haven Training before their certification is complete. This can be done online as follows:

2. Click the link to Course R001-Safe Haven for Referees.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the training.
The online training takes less than an hour, but must be completed in a single session.
