Region 1282 La Costa
2010 Referee Points Policy
  • Post season play is open to all teams in ages U10 and above that adhere to Region 1282’s Referee Points Policy
  • AYSO is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization. It is AGAINST the National Bylaws of AYSO to pay our referees.
  • Region 1282 has created the Referee Points Policy because of a chronic deficiency of referee volunteers. Without referee volunteers this league cannot exist and games cannot be played. Volunteerism cannot be forced, but this policy places a consequence on teams that do not do their part to help as volunteers.
  • Referee Points Policy 2010:
    • All teams U10 and above will be required to secure 10 (TEN) Referee Volunteer Points to participate in post-season play by completion of play October 23rd.
    • Points are awarded as follows:
      • 1 point for each game as a center referee (U8 or above)
      • 1 point for each game as an assistant referee in U10 or above
      • 3 points for attendance and completion of the Basic Referee Training Course*
      • 3 points for attendance at Referee Refresher Training* (must already be a referee and only good for one Refresher)
      • 10 points for attendance and completion of any higher level referee training (Intermediate Badge Upgrade, Advanced Badge Upgrade, National Badge Upgrade, Referee Instructor Training and Referee Assessor Training)
    • Points for training* will only be awarded if the referee actively participates as a referee in the AYSO region by officiating games this year. A minimum of 2 games must be officiated as either a center referee or assistant referee to earn these training points.
  • Referees will continue to use the D4 Registration System to sign up for games. However, all points are awarded based on SIGNED GAME CARDS this year. SAVE YOUR GAME CARDS. Sites to drop game cards will be announced periodically throughout the year or they can be mailed to:
    • Address: AYSO La Costa 6965 El Camino Real STE 105  PMB-612 Carlsbad, CA   92009
    • Signed game cards must be legible!
  • Referees must be 17 years or older to acquire points for a team.
  • Referees may split points, but only to teams on which their own children play.
  • Referees who do not have an affiliation with a team may commit their points to a team but these referees may not use their points for any other team.
